Horizons Project Update!

In June, 28 members of the TumTum/Lake Spokane Community got together to discuss and begin the planning for the next phase of this 18 month project.




Two of our County Commissioners, Merrill Ott & Larry Guenther; two representatives from Rural Resources, Kelly Scalf & Linda Daniels Norris; State Representative Shelly Short, Sheila Stalf representing Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers and Debra Kollock from WSU Extension, were also in attendance.

By the end of August we will have a Strategic Plan for the next 2 years that will outline implementation our ideas. The following are some of the ideas being worked on:
  • Mobile Access to Resource Services (M.A.R.S.)
  • Transportation within the lower Stevens County area to access services
  • Cost effective internet access to provide educational, business and other opportunities
  • Tax preparation & filing
  • Financial classes
